:: After completing the first stages of my dream Z, I was ready to enjoy the summer with cruises, shows, and just general sports car comradery. I went to my first show this past saturday. Not a Z show but a car show sponsored by a local oldies club. The show was open to all years and makes of cars. I knew with the club sponsoring it that the majority of cars would be 60s 70s muscle cars and hot rods, but was anticipating at least another z or some other imports. Out of 135 cars that entered the show I wound up being the only Z and one of only 5 imports which were a few VWs and a old jag. On the plus my car got lots of looks and lots of turned up noses by the old guys,lol. For some reason when I registered the lady said that there were no classes and that they would just do a top 25 and best of show(weird). With the old guys from the club as judges I knew I stood no chance at placing but hung around to the end anyways. I was not upset with not placing for the above mentioned reason but was pissed that 2 of the top 25 cars were brand new cars. I thought it was a slap in the face to any of us others that have either restored and or customized there rides. I mean a 2010 camaro, give me a break. Nice car but not deserving of placing in a car show.
:: That night I decided to cruise around my city(richmond) and see if anyone else was out, but to my dismay I saw no other sports cars. Does no one cruise after dark anymore? I guess maybe either law enforcment and or the city have put a stop to just being able to drive slow and check out other cars.
:: So maybe this post should end in a poll of best cities to cruise in. Where is the next town to film a modern American Grafitti?
